A few hints for a stay in Málaga

This articles strives to give you some hints if your are to spend a few days in Málaga, Spain.

Transportation:

To get to the city from the airport, the suburban train C1 operated by RENFE is the most convenient method, and it’s very cheap (less than 2 €). The station is not well signposted from inside the airport, at the exception of very few signs. Basically all you have to do if you can’t see any sign is head for the exit, where you will find a service road with buses and taxis. Cross the road and walk ahead on the curb, the underground station is just there. The direction is Málaga Centro - Alameda, which is the end of the line and the most central station. You’ll want to get off there if your hotel is in the center. Otherwise, the previous stop, Málaga – Maria Zambrano, is also within city limits. Services run every 20 minutes in both directions, all days. The journey takes 12 minutes.
Getting around inside Malaga is very easy. Walking is the best option as the city center is rather small.

What to see:

Museo Picaso: a wonderful museum with plenty of Picasso’s paintings and sculpture. A must-see.
The Alcazaba: a very nice ancient Arab fortress.
The Roman theater, close to the entrance to the Alcazaba.
El Castello de Gibralfaro, uphill of the Alcazaba. A path from the Alcazaba to the castle seems to exist, but it is not open to the public. Therefore you have to take the road from the bottom. This road rapidly changes into a footpath.
El Centro de Artes Contemporales (CAC): an exhibit of recent artwork, including a few paintings by Andy Warhol.
